Illuminate San Francisco Festival of Light: A New Twist on an Old Tradition

Now that the holiday season is upon us, lighting displays seem to be going up all over the place. If you’re looking for a unique twist on this tradition nearly as old as electric lighting itself, you have to check out the Illuminate San Francisco Festival of Light. Now in its fifth year, this festival is a seven-and-a-half-week event, which began on Thanksgiving and continues all the way through New Years Day. All across the city, you’ll find unique neon, LED installations that push the bounds of holiday art. Several guided tours are available each week free of charge, and if you don’t have time to join one of these, you can plan your own route with a self-guided itinerary that charts the locations of all thirty-seven installations. For more details on how to see this amazing constellation of public art, check out the official website of the Illuminate SF Festival of Light here.
