San Francisco Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day

Home to a vibrant Irish community, San Francisco is one of the best cities in the nation to celebrate that raucous day devoted to Ireland’s patron saint. This year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which is likely to attract more than 100,000 partiers, will kick off Saturday, March 17, at 11:30 A.M. at the corner of 2nd and Market Streets. From there, marchers will proceed along Market to Civic Center Plaza, where tens of thousands will congregate to enjoy the live Irish bands, beer, and pub fare at the official St. Patrick’s Day Festival. We’d also recommend checking out the Irish Bank Block Party at 10 Mark Lane in the Financial District. This event runs from noon till midnight and features live musical entertainment, including The Watch, The Shams, and The Quiet Men. So raise a pint, and join in a toast to all you’ll meet on St. Patty’s Day: May your pockets be heavy, your heart be light, and may good luck pursue you through the day and the night!
